To show a willingness to carry on with a contract.

If there appears to be a breach of contract the innocent party can, once he becomes aware of any misrepresentation, terminate the contract or continue with the contract. If he says or implies that he intends to continue with the contract the party is said to have affirmed the contract.  He will then be unable to terminate the contract, damages can be sought for breach of contract if necessary.

Before a party can be regarded as having affirmed a contract he must be aware that a right of termination has arisen and he must be aware of the facts leading to the option to terminate.
