Legal ombudsman

The legal ombudsman has been set up by the office for legal complaints under the legal services act 2007.

The job of the Legal Ombudsman is to resolve legal complaints in a fair and independent way.  The full title is the Legal Ombudsman for England and Wales.  The new service commenced on the 6 October 2010.  The service is open to all members of the public, very small businesses, charities, clubs and trusts. The  service is free to these consumers.

The Legal Ombudsman has formal powers to resolve complaints about solicitors.
